Hydratight launches machining services product

Hydratight, whose US headquarters are located in Deer Park, Texas, has launched a new tool which is designed to make pipeline machining services safer for technicians. The attachment has been custom designed for heavy cutting and beveling at the pre-weld stage, in combination with the company’s clamshell lathe range.

Its design, which currently has a patent pending, enables ‘hands-free’ weld preparation. Automation of the weld preparation process aims to increase operator safety due to a reduction in manual interaction with moving parts.

The Profile Slide Attachment is designed to allow operators carry out facing, compound bevel, J-prep, ring type joint flange preparing and counterbore work. The company says that the device can cut a pipe wall up to 5 inches thick and bolts directly to Hydratight’s clamshells.
