Grundfos has signed an agreement to acquire Newterra, a water and wastewater treatment solutions company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from Frontenac, a Chicago-based private equity firm. The acquisition comes following the recent announcement of a new plant at Grundfos’ US headquarters in Brookshire, Texas.

The acquisition will further strengthen the company’s growing portfolio within the water treatment industry. It also underscores Grundfos’ goal to expand its presence in the US and Canada.

Newterra has approximately 280 employees, and designs, engineers, manufactures and serves a range of modular water and wastewater treatment solutions. With the acquisition, the company’s water treatment business will have more than 1,500 skilled employees across Europe and North America.

The agreement is expected to close in the second half of 2025.
