A subsidiary of Foster Wheeler’s Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded the basic design and front-end engineering design contract by Complejo GNL del Este. Complejo GNL del Esta is a consortium comprised of Colombian and Domincan energy companies for a new LNG receiving terminal and jetty to be built in San Pedro de Marcoris, Domincan Republic.
Foster Wheeler has completed a feasibility study to select the most suitable technology for the terminal. The new facility will be designed to have a capacity of 240million MMscf/d and an LNG storage tank of 160,000 cubic metres. Future expansion up to 700MMscf/d, will also be taken into consideration in the design and Foster Wheeler will work with a local partner to execute the work that is expected to be completed in September of this year.
The value of the contract has not been disclosed and will be included in Foster Wheeler’s first-quarter 2012 results.
