EPA installs valve & barrier in Gold King Mine

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is installing a valve and barrier inside an inactive Colorado mine to prevent a surge of toxic wastewater that could contaminate rivers.
The 12-inch valve will regulate wastewater pouring from the Gold King Mine in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado.

The EPA has not yet announced how much the barrier will cost.
