EPA awards Raytheon with 2012 ENERGY STAR award

Raytheon Company has been awarded the 2012 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the fifth consecutive year, for ongoing leadership in energy conservation, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and innovative energy efficiency practices. Raytheon received the award at an EPA ceremony in Washington, D.C. on 15 March. The company was selected for the award from 20,000 private and public sector ENERGY STAR partners. In its 12 years of participation in the ENERGY STAR program, they have received eight awards.
 
Raytheon’s energy conservation efforts have resulted in several accomplishments last year including reaching a 5% absolute reduction in energy consumption which resulted in more than USD5 million in annual savings, engaging and empowering more than 37,000 employees to take a new “lifetime pledge” to everyday energy conservation practices, reducing 55,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to removing the emissions of 11,000 vehicles annually, training hundreds of “Energy Champions” to strengthen the company’s network of 1,500 sustainability volunteers and sharing company best practices with more than 1,100 people in industry and federal, state and local organizations including existing and prospective ENERGY STAR partners.
