Emerson’s New Gate Valve for Demanding Conditions

Emerson has launched a new Clarkson KS1 knife gate valve, designed for oil sands companies to increase productivity during slurry processes. The new valve has a patented gate edge seal design to create a continuous seal around the gate, with a precision-moulded elastomer seat. The seat increases the contact area, sealing ability of the valve compared to standard O-ring designs.

The design is optimised for heavy slurry conditions, with a round port that eliminates protrusions into the flow. This minimizes turbulence and reduces wear on valve components. The KS1 is designed to standard MSS SP-135 face-to-face dimensions.
