BP Exploration has selected Emerson Process Management as automation contractor of choice for offshore oil and gas operations in BP’s North Sea Region. Emerson will supply integrated control and safety systems for five offshore fields in the UK continental shelf, including the new Clair Ridge platforms and the Quad 204 floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
This selection as contractor of choice is in addition to an earlier agreement in which the company was named a Main Automation Contractor for BP projects globally. BP expects to gain the benefits of efficient project execution, training, maintenance and support through standardizing work through a single contractor in the North Sea region.
Emerson will provide control a range of services for control and safety systems, from front-end engineering and design to installation, testing and support. The integrated systems include Emerson’s DeltaV™ digital automation system, DeltaV SIS™ process system and AMS Suite predictive maintenance software.

Part of BP’s Exploration and Production segment, the North Sea Region encompasses oil and natural gas exploration, development and production, related pipeline transportation, processing activities and decommissioning.
