Curtiss-Wright awarded Naval Defense contracts

Curtiss-Wright Corporation has been awarded contracts valued at over US40 million to provide valves for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-Class submarines. They will also provide an assortment of spare components for nuclear powered ships. The Curtiss-Wright Flow Control facility in East Farmingdale, NY will perform the work. The next releases under previously awarded contracts for Virginia-Class submarines are the awards from Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. and General Dynamics Electric Boat. These components are anticipated for delivery in 2013 through 2017.

Curtiss-Wright Chairman and CEO Martin R. Benante said that the company is pleased to have been awarded the additional work. “The Virginia-Class submarine program is a critical component of our national defense and these contracts provide important long-lead nuclear components that enable the continuation of submarine construction.”

Curtiss-Wright has supplied technologically advanced products to the U.S. Navy, in particular for nuclear propulsion systems for over 50 years.
