Column: Emissions Containment

Fugitive emission of gases and/or vapors due to unanticipated leaks from pressurized equipment such as valves, pumps, and compressors are typical concerns in chemical, petrochemical, LNG, or refinery operations. Those emissions can be broadly referred as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), or Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs). Knowing how to select valves with specifications that meet or exceed required limits to suppress VOCs or HAPs are critical as the punitive costs are exorbitantly high if an operation fails to meet the requirements.
