Chevron and GE form alliance

The two companies of Chevron Energy Technology Co. and GE Oil and gas have formed the Chevron GE Technology Alliance to develop and commercialize technologies that could potentially help solve important issues for the oil and gas industry. Both companies are already collaborating on the GE Safire flow meter, a flow analysis tool, for oil and gas wells as well as managing a coating project.

The plan is that the partnership will leverage research and development from GE’s new Global Research Center, which is dedicated to oil and gas technology. The alliance will also provide a mechanism to commercialize early stage technologies from Chevron, GE in addition to other technology partnerships. For instance, the GE flow meter range of products will be developed by including the Swept Frequency Acoustic Interferometry metering technology incubated in an enterprise between Chevron and the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
