(ETP) and Sunoco, Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement whereby ETP will acquire Sunoco in a unit and cash transaction valued at USD 50.13 per share, or a total consideration of approximately USD 5.3 billion, based on ETP’s closing price on April 27, 2012.

Cheniere Energy export terminal approved

Houston, Texas based Cheniere Energy Inc. has been granted government approval to build a facility that will make the company the first large-scale natural gas exporter in the United States.   Cheniere has said that regulators have approved the construction of the Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Companies bid on offshore VA wind development

    Eight companies have bid to develop offshore wind farms off the coast of Virginia, two of which are companies based in the state; the state’s largest electric utility, Richmond-based Dominion Resources and Charlottesville-based Apex Virginia Offshore Wind LLC.

AEP purchases BlueStar Energy

American Electric Power and AEP Retail Energy, its unregulated subsidiary, have acquired BlueStar Energy Holdings Inc. and its independent retail electric supplier BlueStar Energy Solutions. Chicago-based BlueStar provides electric supply for retail customers in Illinois, Ohio and other deregulated energy markets and also provides nationwide demand response and energy efficiency services.

ReEnergy revamping New York power plant

ReEnergy Holdings LLC in Albany, New York announced that it has purchased an energy plant in LeRay that has not been operational since 2010. The company plans to convert the plant to run on biomass and it is expected to joint he grid in early 2013.
