Magellan Midstream to expand pipeline distribution
Magellan Midstream Partners is constructing a 6 mi, 24in diameter crude oil pipeline between the pipeline interchanges of Genoa Junction and Speed Junction. It will connect to the 24in diameter crude oil pipeline along the Houston ship cannel that was previously announced as part of the partnership's Houston-to-El Paso pipeline reversal project, allowing Magellan to further distribute product from the Eagle Ford Shale area to Houston-area refineries.
Major Alberta oil sands project awarded
SNC-Lavalin has been awarded a $650 million plus contract by a major oil sands mining producer to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a froth treatment plant near Fort McMurray.
Change to Keystone XL route proposed
An official has told The Associated Press that the U.S. State Department is considering a plan that would reroute the proposed $7 billion Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada. The current proposed route sends the pipeline through the Ogallala aquifer, which supplies water to eight states.
EMAS AMC wins subsea contract
BP Exploration & Production has granted a contract to EMAS AMC (EMAS) to perform subsea work in the Atlantis field in the Gulf of Mexico. EMAS will supply jumper and associated hardware and install and replace subsea equipment including manifolds and pipeline end manifolds.
Luminant signs Fluor for environmental retrofit pr
Fluor Corp has been awarded a multi-year special projects supplement to their existing contract to provide construction and other support services for Luminant's environmental retrofit program. Fluor will supply management, supervision and craft personnel to support construction services and environmental retrofits to Luminant's current coal-fired power plant units.
