Tesoro to add capacity

Tesoro Corp. has announced plans to invest USD 180 million to expand crude oil processing at its Salt Lake City refinery.

Working gas capacity increase at Crowville

Perryville Gas Storage LLC has received authorization from FERC to increase working gas capacity and otherwise expand its Crowville Project natural gas storage facility in Louisiana. One of the conditions is that Perryville must comply with the commission's new open season policy for the additional capacity.

Leakage easily tested in new ball valve

The new NIBCO PC585-70 cast bronze ball valve features a new design that allows a leak to occur during testing, if the press connection is not properly crimped. Other NIBCO Press System fittings and valves will feature this new leak detection technology using a phased-in approach.

China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has announced that it has wrapped up its USD 2.1 billion takeover of oil sands operator Opti Canada. CNOOC entered into an agreement in July to acquire Opti which is estimated to hold about 195 million barrels of proved reserves, 534 million barrels of probable reserves, 1.

Statoil and partners to explore offshore Newfoundl

Chevron Canada and Repsol E&P Canada partnering with Statoil have successfully bid for exploration rights on two land parcels in the Flemish Pass Basin, offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Statoil already has a presence in the area, at its Mizzen discovery in the Flemish Bass Basin east of the new parcels.

Safer subsea wellhead being developed

Plexus Holdings is partnering with four major oil and gas companies to develop and commercialise a new and safer subsea wellhead, HGSS. Consulting partners included in Plexus’s Joint Industry Project are Maersk Oil North Sea UK, Shell International Exploration and Production, Wintershall Noordzee, and oil and gas technology solution consultancy SafeKick.

FMC sets deepwater completion record

The enhanced vertical deepwater tree (EVDT) system from FMC Technologies recently set a new deepwater completion record of 9627 feet at the Shell-operated Tobago field, part of the Perdido development located in the Gulf of Mexico.
