    A USD2.5 billion plan to create one of the region’s larger power generation plants, could be made possible with a proposed change in Washington state law.

    Global supplier of efficient power plant solutions Wärtsilä North American Inc., has been awarded a contract to supply engineering and generating equipment for a new Alaska power plant to be installed.

Shell Global Solutions International B.V. has awarded Genesis an Enterprise Framework Agreement covering subsea umbilical rises and flowlines, engineering and project management services. The contract to be initially managed by Genesis’ Houston office, will focus on Shell’s Gulf of Mexico and Brazil activities for a duration of five years with the option to extend the agreement for another five years.

TransCanada has awarded two fabrication and construction contracts worth CAD 58 million for work on its terminal in Hardisty, Alberta, to WorleyParsons. The Australian engineering company’s Canadian subsidiary WorleyParsonsCord will conduct brownfield work on Terminal A and plant construction work at Terminal B at the facility.

    MarkWest Energy will operate about 2.3Bcf/d and 300,000Bbl/d of fractionation capacity, serving the Northeast shales, which includes the Utica, Marcellus and Huron, once expansion plan is complete.
