Victaulic acquires MTS desalination business

Victaulic has acquired MTS Valves & Technology's desalination business, which manufactures and designs valves for the desalination market such as the MTS Plug Valve. A high-pressure valve for control in seawater reverse-osmosis applications, the MTS Plug Valve is also used in other high-pressure membrane treatment applications in highly corrosive environments such as offshore oil and gas sulfate removal systems, water processing for mining, industrial water reclamation and reuse facilities and high-purity water treatment for power.

Emerson offering valve leak detection services

   Emerson Process Management has announced that it will now offer Valve Seat Leak Detection Services which includes solutions for valve-seat leak detection, open inspection, diagnostics, OEM-certified and replacement of its Fisher brand control valves.

Swagelok acquires Innovative Pressure Technologies

As part of its strategy to broaden the company's offering of fluid system technology products and services, Swagelok Company has acquired the assets of Innovative Pressure Technologies (IPT). Erie, Pennsylvania-based, IPT is a manufacturer of subsea valves, fittings and fluid control devices used primarily in oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, automotive, water blasting, waterjet cutting and similar applications.

Vogtle making good progress

Georgia Power has put back the expected dates for its new units at Vogtle to enter service by several months, although the delay is not currently expected to impact plant costs. In its most recent semi-annual filing with the Georgia Public Service Commission, Southern Company subsidiary Georgia Power said that it expects Vogtle units 3 and 4 to enter service in November 2016 and November 2017 respectively.

MN plants returned to service

Xcel Energy said operators returned the 600 MW Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant near Monticello, Minn., and the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant Unit 1, to full power August 20 after shutting them down the week prior. The Monticello plant was returned to full power after workers repaired a gasket on a pipe flange.
