Bright future for Canada’s nuclear community

The Canadian Nuclear Association’s (CNA) Annual Conference and Trade Show was held in Ottawa in March and more than 700 delegates gathered to discuss the future of nuclear in Canada and around the world. The consensus, voiced by Denise Carpenter, President and CEO of CNA, was that nuclear is here to stay, especially with the exciting developments in Canadian nuclear research and projects such as the refurbishments at Darlington Station and in new nuclear builds. There are more than 70,000 people in the Canadian nuclear industry including key speakers Tom Mitchell, President and CEO of Ontario Power Generation, which is currently working toward expanding the Darlington CANDU Nuclear Plant east of Toronto.
