A Look at Session Two of the Concurrently Running Workshops on Day Two of the Valve World Americas Expo & Conference

The Valve World Americas Expo & Conference is coming soon to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, taking place on June 7th and 8th, 2023. 

Day two of the conference will provide attendees with a diverse selection of concurrently running workshop sessions. Each session will offer several presentations on different aspects of the valve industry. 

The second concurrently running workshops begin at 1:00pm, beginning with option one running until 2:30pm: Fugitive Emissions: Monitoring & Sealing Technologies, run by session chair Bronson Pate of Magdrive Technologies and Valve Maintenance & Repair: Total Cost of Ownership, run by session chair Gilbert Alonzo, Consultant. 

The Fugitive Emissions session will focus on learning the latest technologies in monitoring and the testing of valves to achieve success in programs and will feature presentations such as:

Valve Maintenance & Repair will focus on direct and indirect costs associated with valves, including purchase price, repair costs, replacement costs, and costs of downtime for maintenance and repairs. This session with include presentations such as:

The second option begins at 1:30pm and runs until 3:30pm. This will feature a session on Hydrogen Valves run by session chair Ed Edgar of SLB. This session will focus on the significant part that hydrogen is expected to play in the low-carbon future that lays ahead and will feature presentations such as: 

  • Hydrogen Challenges for Valves – Matthew Doherty, SLB  
  • The Hydrogen Economy and the Role of the Valve Industry – Will Powers, Bray International  
  • The Study of Expanded Graphite Material in Low- E Usage Conditions in High temperature and Cryogenic Services, Specifically Severe Hydrogen Applications – Yuta Sato, Nippon Pillar  
  • MSS Standard for Valves in Hydrogen Service – Greg Johnson, United Valve  
  • Keeping up with Hydrogen – a Vision on Testing – Emiel Lechevallier, Ventil
