A Look at Concurrently Running Workshops on Day Two of the Valve World Americas Expo & Conference

The Valve World Americas Expo & Conference is coming soon to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, taking place on June 7th and 8th, 2023.

Day two of the conference will provide attendees with a diverse selection of concurrently running workshop sessions. Each session will offer several presentations on different aspects of the valve industry.

The first concurrently running workshops begin at 11:30 AM. Option one focuses on Industry Trends and is run by session chair Tim Goedeker of TRICORD Consulting. Running until 1:30 PM, the workshop will feature presentations on hot trends impacting the flow control industry, such as hydrogen, supply chain, decarbonization, carbon capture and transport, and more. Our featured presentations include:

  • ESG Reconciliation Utilizing Engineered Gear Operators – Tim Chicoine, Wedgerock Engineered Solutions & Gobind Khiani, Enbridge
  • Proposed Changes to EPA Regulation 40CFR60 in Regard to Pneumatic Controllers – Tim Chicoine, Wedgerock Engineered Solutions & Gobind Khiani, Enbridge
  • Path to Net Zero: Emissions Reduction and Delivering Sustainable Operations through Collaboration – Dave Anderson, Score Group
  • Digitalization Trends for Field On-Off Mechanical Assets in the Process Industry – Riyaz Ali & Girish Dalbhanjan, Emerson
  • Reducing Likelihood of Potential Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) Incidents Through Use of Machine Learning Algorithms to Identify Trends and Correlations Between LDAR Survey Data, Frequent Stem Leaks, and Tier 1 & Tier 2 LOPC Events – Wojciech Zmudzinski & Richard Sobilo, bp America
  • The Valve ‘Climate’ in the Next Decade (2030s) – Tim Goedeker, TRICORD Consulting

Option two focuses on Valve Safety and Control Valves and runs until 1:00 PM. The session about Valve Safety is led by session chair Foster Voelker II from Williams Valves. This workshop focuses process safety, as well as the proper understanding of valves required, from the people selecting the valves, to the people being sent the asset. Our featured presentations include:

  • Block and Check Valves in Process Safety: Addressing the Mechanical Integrity Element of Process Safety – Dan DeVine, Corteva Agriscience/Midland Engineering
  • Considerations in the specification of Fuel Gas Safety Shutoff Valves – Jay Hunt, Valmet Flow Control
  • Failsafe Function of Electric Motor Operated Valves (or What to Do When the Power Goes Out) – Dean Geraci, ProMation
  • How Mounting Kit Designs Impact Valve Safety and Reliability – Tony Lambert, VanAire

The session regarding Control Valves will be led by Greg Peterson from MRC Global, discussing the importance of optimizing the performance of control valves to maximize efficiency and profitability while maintaining safety and reliability. Featured presentations include:

  • Control Valve Technologies in Thermoplastics – Shane McDaniel, AsahiAmerica
  • Managing Noise in Control Valve Applications – Solibella Bencomo, Valmet
  • Pressure Balanced Coaxial Valves – Ralf Hinz, co-ax valves
  • Using Computational Fluid Dynamics for Real-World Control Valve Design – Justin Bernard, Bray International

Do not miss out on this amazing opportunity to connect with industry peers. We look forward to seeing you there!
