API has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Brazilian technological, certification and standardization group, ABENDI, to collaborate on industry standardization with the goal of enhancing safety, environmental protection and sustainability.
API standards are developed under an American National Standards Institute accredited process, ensuring that the API standards are not only technically rigorous, but also are developed using consensus, due process and balance across stakeholder interests.
API represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our than 600 members produce, process and distribute most of the nation’s energy. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organization.
Founded in 1979, ABENDI is a technical-scientific society and provider of solutions of high technological value for companies and people through the innovation and the diffusion of knowledge in the areas of Non-Destructive Testing, Inspection, Quality and Safety, preserving life and the environment. ABENDI operates in the areas of technology and innovation projects, technical standards, qualification and certification and in the dissemination of knowledge through training, courses, congresses and events.
The primary purpose of this MOU is to provide a platform to enhance cooperation and collaboration between API and ABENDI in a number of areas, including facilitating joint training; the exchange of information on industry standards; enhanced communications; and collaboration on joint forums to facilitate exchanges between Brazilian and American experts in the natural gas and oil industry.
