Emerson Breaks Ground on New Service Center

On August 29, 2019, Emerson, a global leader in automation solutions, broke ground with an official ceremony for their new Service Center at Calcasieu Industrial Park in Sulphur, La. Emerson’s new facility is providing maintenance, repair, inventory and other services for its portfolio of final control products and technologies.

This is an expansion of Emerson’s presence in the Lake Charles market, which is considered as a “regionally significant center of petrochemical refining,” delivering its services to more than 30 chemical plants and refineries along the Calcasieu Ship Channel with its Impact Partner, John H. Carter. Since 2004, Emerson has supported the regional Lake Charles petrochemical and refining industries with automation technologies, innovative products, software and services to help companies maximize production, protect personnel and the environment, while reducing energy and operating costs.

The new Service Center is a 30,000 square-foot facility which will be equipped with capabilities for total valve repair, such as control valves and isolation valves, among others. It will have a 20-ton overhead crane capacity and will allow Emerson to better execute customers’ larger shutdowns, turnarounds and outage events. Moreover, Emerson’s measurement and flow sales group will occupy a portion of this facility.

“The investment in the Lake Charles market is critical for us. We are very proud of our team in Lake Charles and the relationships that we have developed over the years with our customers. These relationships are allowing us to invest in the future,” said David Beck, director of operations.

In addition to serving customers, Emerson’s new Service Center will provide product training to employees and its Impact Partner, John H. Carter. The new facility’s onsite training capabilities will help the industry bridge the skills gap and help develop a workforce prepared to work with digital technologies and practices. Emerson will continue its commitment to STEM education and partnerships with schools in the Southeast region, supporting the worldwide development of a digital workforce.

“We are elated to have Emerson in our community, and we are honored to be a part of their official groundbreaking ceremony. We look forward to the grand opening next year and watching the growth, success and job opportunities Emerson will bring to Sulphur for years to come,” said Sulphur, La., Mayor Mike Danahay.

Construction on Emerson’s new Service Center is expected to be completed in early 2020.
