New wireless valve monitoring tool by Rotork

Rotork, with many global locations, including a number throughout the Americas, has launched its RI Wireless concept for wireless valve monitoring and diagnostics. The solution transmits real time position indications and allows for predictive maintenance for actuated valves.

The system enhances operational efficiencies and eliminates unnecessary shutdowns. The system comprises of a small valve monitoring device (VMD) that is installed on existing or new valve actuators using a NAMUR interface or on manual valves with an ISO 5211 interface. The VMD collects data from the actuator or valve and transmits it as a 64 point packet, providing the information required for preventative maintenance.

A network of valve device routers (VDR) transfer the data from the VMDs on a wireless network to the tunneling VDR (TVDR), which transfers the data to the RI wireless gateway, an industrial computer that manages the RI Wireless system. The system is programmed and commissioned using an operator device (OD) that provides wireless communication with the VMDs.
