Emerson receives 1st SEDCO buy local grant

After announcing an extra incentive earlier this year for Sherman, Texas, businesses to use local services in their moves or expansions, the Sherman Economic Development Corp. (SEDCO) recently had its first company take it up on that offer.

SEDCO President, John Plotnik and Board Member, John Sild, presented Emerson Process Management a USD $95,000 check that included the maximum USD $20,000 for the buy local grant reimbursement. The other $75,000 was the final payment from the incentive agreement for the local control valve manufacturing plant’s recent USD $8 million expansion.

SEDCO board Chairman Willie Steele said earlier this year that the incentive will be included in all of the organization’s performance agreements going forward. Emerson Plant Manager Mark Anderson praised SEDCO for its assistance in helping the company expand and all the things the corporation does to bring local manufacturers together, like plant manager forums and human resources forums.
