NTE Energy officials said recently they have begun the permitting process to build the Reidsville Energy Center in Rockingham County, North Carolina. The 500-megawatt, natural gas-fired combined cycle plant would power an estimated 450,000 homes, NTE officials said.
If the project is approved, construction could begin as early as 2017. NTE officials said they have submitted a request with Duke Energy to connect to its power grid. The project would have an estimated total investment of more than USD $450 million.
The Reidsville facility will be similar to a plant being built in Kings Mountain, company officials said. NTE Energy is based in Florida.
