Librestream video tech aids PDO oil & gas

Manitoba, Canada-based Librestream, providers of mobile video collaboration solutions, and Gulf Business Machines (GBM), the Middle East’s leading provider of IT solutions and services, have been selected to provide the collaborative video camera solution for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) using Cisco networking solutions. PDO is the foremost exploration and production company in the Sultanate, accounting for more than 70% of the country’s crude-oil production and nearly all of its natural-gas supply.

This technology allows engineers to stay a safe distance away from equipment when diagnosing emergencies such as well head relief valve failures. In addition, it provides a digital zoom feature on the Onsight camera device, to give experts in the Muscat, Oman, headquarters or a key supplier in North America the details they need to help remotely diagnose the field issue.

PDO has already deployed the video collaboration solution in the field and identified benefits such as accelerated response to issues in the field as well as improvements in safety and overall communication.
