Shaker High School and Union College are among 13 Albany, New York area schools scheduled to receive robotic equipment donated by Precision Valve & Automation (PVA). The donations are geared towards motivating and educating students to become skilled technical workers.
PVA manufactures machines and valves that spray protective coatings and glue on electronics, medical devices and other parts, for various industrial applications.
The donation is valued at USD $500,000 in equipment that was made at PVA’s Colonie manufacturing plant. The first two schools to accept the donation are Shaker High School, which is part of the North Colonie Central School District, and Union College, a private liberal arts college in Schenectady.
PVA founder, Tony Hynes, said the goal of donating the equipment is to help schools provide more training in electrical assembly, computer programming and engineering.
