EPCm contract for Dow’s plant upgrade

The Dow Chemical Company has contracted Global Engineering and Construction (E&C) Group, a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG, to provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services for the LA-3 Crack More Ethane (CME) project at Dow’s Plaquemine petrochemical facility in Louisiana, USA.

The project, which is part of Dow’s comprehensive U.S. Gulf Coast investment strategy, aims to improve the plant’s ethane flexibility to take advantage of low-cost feedstock. The project scope includes brownfield additions and retrofit modifications to the plant.

“Foster Wheeler has the proven brownfield/retrofit project execution capabilities that are crucial to achieving Dow’s cost and schedule objectives,” said Umberto della Sala, president and COO, Foster Wheeler AG. “We are pleased that our excellent working relationship with Dow under our Global Agreement continues to flourish with this latest award.”

Foster Wheeler did not disclose the contract value of the project.
