Energy Transfer Equity’s Trunkline LNG Company, Trunkline LNG Export and Trunkline Gas company subsidiaries have filed a request with the Federal Regulatory Commission to build a natural gas liquefaction project that is under development in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The project is being developed to liquefy domestic supplies of natural gas in order to export it to foreign countries to meet the global growing demand for LNG. A wide range of economic and employment related benefits will be brought to the United States through the export of LNG to the world market.
Energy Transfer is working with its customer BG Group in developing the project in which Trunkline Gas Company plans to extend its interstate natural gas pipeline by half a mile to supply feed gas to the liquefaction facility. The project is expected to export as much as 15 million metric tons of LNG annually, equivalent to about 2billion cubic feet of natural gas daily.
Construction is expected to begin in 2014 and the project is anticipated to be in service in the beginning of 2018, pending regulatory approvals.
