Val-Matic enters UK with sewage plant project

Val-Matic has entered the United Kingdom market with a major project for Thames Water. The project involved an upgraded contract valued at over US189 million for work at east London’s Crossness Sewage Treatment Plant.

Val-Matic Cam-Centric plug valves in a full range of sizes were installed in the primary settlement tank, desludge and aeration applications to maintain the ability to withstand the harsh process environment.

The valves hard-wearing and non-stick fusion bonded epoxy coating and Grit-Guard seals ensure a tight seal. The ¼ turn valves allows low torque actuation for shut-off and throttling service and meet AWWA C517 and are WQA Certified Lead-Free.

The improvements made through the projects have enabled the site to treat 44% more sewage than it had previously been able to which has significantly reduced the amount of storm sewage overflows into the River Thames.
