ShawCor signs Ichthys pipecoating contract

 
 
ShawCor Ltd.’s pipecoating division, Bredero Shaw has received a more than USD400 million contract with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to provide pipeline coatings and related products and service for the Ichthys LNG project gas export pipeline. ShawCor is an energy services company that specializes in products and services for the pipeline and pipe services, petrochemical and industrial segments of the oil and gas industry.
 
The contract involves Bredero Shaw coating 889km of 42” pipe that will be protected with Asphalt Enamel coating, SureFlo™ internal coating and HeviCote® concrete weight coating, as well as anode procurement, installation and custom coating.
 
A joint venture between the Operator, INPEX (76%) and Total (24%), the gas from the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia will undergo processing to remove water and extract condensate at the offshore central processing facility before being transported through the 889km subsea pipeline to the onshore facility at Blaydin Point, Darwin in Northern Australia. The Project is expected to produce 8.4 million tones of LNG and 1.6 million tones of LPG per year, as well as an estimated 100,000 barrels of condensate daily at peak.
