Tesoro to sell Hawaii operations

Tesoro Corp., the San Antonio, Texas-based refiner announced its plans to auction off its operation in Hawaii which includes 32 retail stations, the Kapolei refinery and all related assets. The Kapolei refinery which makes gasoline, jet fuel, ship fuel, diesel, asphalt and fuel oil for electrical generation can process 94,000 bpd. A pipeline from the refinery supplies terminals at Honolulu International Airport, military installations and Honolulu Harbor with transportation fuels. The largest refinery in Hawaii, it has been processing 70,000bpd in recent years. In a statement, Tesoro CEO Greg Goff said that the company determined that “our business in Hawaii does not align with our strategic focus on the mid-continent and West Coast (and the Hawaii operation) is no longer in line with our vision of Tesoro’s future.”
