Perryville Gas Storage LLC has received authorization from FERC to increase working gas capacity and otherwise expand its Crowville Project natural gas storage facility in Louisiana. One of the conditions is that Perryville must comply with the commission’s new open season policy for the additional capacity. The policy was established in a proceeding involving Pine Prairie Energy Center LLC. Another condition is that Perryville verify capacity and pressures before placing each cavern in service.
The order also included environmental conditions for construction and operation. Perryville requested authorization to expand working gas capacity by 2.5Bcf at each of two caverns at its Crowville Project in a March 30 application, so that each cavern would have 10Bcf of working gas capacity.

Perryville said it had received expressions of interest in just about all the capacity in the caverns. The company also proposed to drill additional wells, and it requested continued authorization to charge market-based rates. FERC staff gave the proposal a positive environmental review in August.
