Oil well celebrates 150th birthday

The world’s oldest continually producing well in northwestern Pennsylvania has celebrated its 150th birthday. McClintock Well No. 1 was drilled in August, 1961 and belonged to the former Quaker State oil company, but was donated to the nearby Drake Well Museum in 1955.  At its height, the well produced about 175 bpd and currently produces approximately 40 bpd which is processed at The American Refining Group in Bradford, PA.
The well was declared an American Treasure by The National Park Service in 1999.
