McLaren Formula 1 Taps Greene Tweed for Differential Performance

McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Taps Greene Tweed to Boost Differential Performance

After establishing a multi-year partnership with the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team in 2025, Greene Tweed recently deployed its Metal-Spring-Energized (MSE) seals for the team’s limited-slip differential clutch pack.

The collaboration represents the ongoing partnership that fuels groundbreaking advancements in motorsports engineering. McLaren turned to Greene Tweed for an advanced sealing solution for the hydraulic actuator that clamps the friction clutch inside the differential.

The system optimizes torque distribution for maximum traction and cornering speed. Seal integrity is paramount since significant leakage would cause a catastrophic loss of system function.

The two MSE seal assemblies feature a unique C-shaped profile and a corrosion-resistant metal spring to provide uniform reliability. Both can perform under the application’s extreme conditions. These include temperatures up to 302°F, pressures from 5 to 250 bar, and exposure to aggressive fluids.
