Petrobras has discovered the presence of high-quality oil in an exploratory well in the Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block. The discovery was in a post-salt layer of the Campos Basin, located 67 miles from Campos dos Goytacazes-RJ shore.
Drilling was completed at a water depth of approximately 2,400 feet and an oil-bearing interval was confirmed through electrical logs, gas shows, and fluid sampling. Samples will be sent for laboratory analyses to determine characterization of reservoir and fluid conditions. This will allow for the continuation of the area’s potential evaluation.
The Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block was acquired in September 2018 during the 5th Production Sharing Round with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as the manager. Petrobras is the operator of the block with 100% participation.
