Kinitics Automation’s KVA38 Valve Actuator recently completed more than one million repositions during a long-term test at its headquarters in Vancouver, Canada.
The achievement demonstrates the actuator’s durability, especially through the winter and exposure to harsh wind, snow, and rain. Despite the conditions, the KVA38 maintained full functionality without requiring servicing or repair.
The KVA38 works with rising stem process valves (such as globe and control valves) in industries where uptime and long-term performance are critical.
The test followed procedures outlined in CSA C22.2 No. 139:19, a standard for evaluating industrial control equipment. The actuator’s internal diagnostics system, communicating via Modbus serial protocol, provided constant performance data, allowing engineers to closely monitor the actuator’s condition throughout the test.
Its ability to withstand a million repositions under harsh, real-world conditions, without the need for additional protection or weatherproofing, underscores its readiness for demanding operational settings.
