Watson opens new valve manufacture & repair facility

Watson Grinding & Manufacturing and Watson Valve Services Inc. celebrated the inauguration of its new faculty with a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening event on November 27th. The company was thrilled to mark the opening of the new 19,000 square foot repair and manufacture facility. Located in Houston, Texas, the campus now spans several city blocks and encompasses more than five buildings, with over 84,000 square feet in total. In attendance at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony were Houston District A City Councilwoman Helena Brown and her Chief of Staff, Enrique Reyes.

Watson Grinding & Mfg. is a full-scale machine shop, offering specialty carbide and ceramic thermal spray coatings via HVOF and Plasma application. The company manufactures and services a wide variety of parts, including shafts, valves, rotating and pump components. Specifically, Watson specializes in turning and milling exotic alloys, hard metals and large parts. Strategic investments and technical innovations have consistently enhanced the company’s capabilities. The addition of a robotic thermal spray facility and an on-site metallurgical laboratory in recent years have made Watson a leader in the precise application of thermal spray coatings, dramatically extending the service life of parts in highly corrosive or wear intensive environments. Their machined parts are used in a variety of severe service processes and in various applications.

Watson Valve Services specializes in the custom design, repair and modification of severe service ball valves. Their product line of severe service ball valves is unique because the company utilizes over 50 years of experience and proven coatings technology of its sister company, Watson Grinding & Manufacturing. Not only does Watson make the valve; they coat the ball, seats and other components in-house at their robotic HVOF & Plasma Thermal Spray Coatings facility. The coatings are then tested and approved by the on-site metallurgical laboratory. Valves and Autoclave Agitator Blades lifespan has been extended in severe service processes.
